Since shooting his first "Buffalo feature" in Buffalo, New York, in 2009 (after shooting others in new York City), Gregory has been passionate about growing the film community in his home city and Western New York. He co-founded the Facebook group Buffalo Niagara Film Professionals in 2011, and continues to moderate it to this day. He has mentored young/new filmmakers and has provided many of them with their first on-set opportunities, on his own films and those of others.
In 2013 and 2014, Gregory hosted Buffalo Film Expo, the first conference of its kind in the Buffalo-Niagara region. BFE featured panel discussions featuring area film production professionals, as well as representatives from the Buffalo-Niagara Film Commission. The goal of BFE was to prepare and educate attendees for greater feature film production activity in the Buffalo-Niagara region.
In 2024, Gregory founded Cinema Arts Collaborative, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) Nonprofit organization with the goal of growing and educating the filmmakers and film crew personnel in the Western New York Region. Gregory serves as the Executive Director of CACI, and in 2025 hosted the first Cinema Arts Expo (CAE), at Villa Maria College. CAE 2025 featured panel discussions with Tim Clark and Rich Wall from the Buffalo Niagara Film Office, as well as panels consisting of Producers, Directors, Screenwriters, and Women in Film.
